Manakamana Cable Car enters 24th year of operations
Nepal’s first cable car service at Manakamana entered its 24th year of operations from 24th November. The cable service, which started its operations from 1998, has provided cable car service to around 16 million tourists and pilgrims.
Manakamana area has established itself as a major destination for pilgrims seeking to visit Manakamana temple. The cable car service, constructed using the world-renowned infrastructures of Austrian company Doppelmayr, has been providing excellent transportation service to millions that have visited the temple.
With its new year of operations, the cable car company has announced several undergoing maintenance and upgrades to its infrastructures. The company further stated that major expenses have been incurred in upgrading the quality of infrastructures in order to ensure that safety standards are met.
The current Analogue System is being upgraded to Digital System (D-Connect) in three phases. As per the company, upgrades will be conducted during the off-season to ensure that movement of visitors will not be affected.
